Another Sad Thing...

Some days are just a mix of really hard and really exciting...
Peter and I had to say goodbye to our sweet Finnbogi (the first feral cat that befriended us) today. She showed up at the homestead a few days ago with a severe leg injury. She recently recovered from another severe injury, and we knew she was the outcast amongst the feral cat community and would often show up looking rough around the edges. She is at rest now. We buried her next to the bees. That's the really hard...
Now for the exciting...
The chicken shed is coming together and it is great to have a place to start storing the chicken gear!
With the snow almost gone, it is exciting to see green things growing in the garden, like Music garlic!
Today was the day we officially started our 2026 garden! 40 containers prepped, filled and seeded with lots of peppers, tomatoes, and even some huckleberries. We are ready for spring and growing season!
Also, we have the Gerards 2.0 coming this week...2250 of them to be exact. The previous "flock" was released into our compost bins to help turn our food scraps and yard waste into nutrient rich food for everything we are planting this year. So, that meant cleaning out two bins, activating coco coir and now we watch for boxes that are extra wiggly.
