Chicken Temptation

Confession...I almost gave into temptation yesterday. Chicken temptation.

The newest Murray McMurray catalog arrived and page after page it showed the loveliest chickens and even some Swedish ducks. I got hung up on the Orpingtons and found myself on their hatchery website with chicks loaded in my basket. The chicken math in my brain was working like this...my sweet Peter is building us a coop that can hold 12-15 chickens, and we only have 9 chicks coming in May, so there is most DEFINITELY room for more.

I kept my cool and refrained from crossing that chicken math line! Sharing my struggle with Peter this morning led to a good laugh and an honest reminder that we are a team in ALL the things! Not just chickens, but a promised partnership and union that we cherish and will continue to nurture in the big and small ways!  We promised that no chickens, or forest pigs, or dairy cows, or guard dogs, or fish for a stocked pond, or even Swedish ducks would be purchased without consultation!

Laughing as I share this and remember this verse from Paul's letter to the Corinthians...

1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Thankful that the Lord understands my chicken temptation.  But seriously, this is going to be a struggle for me!
