Tomorrow morning, Peter, is going to pick up our first package of bees...that meant today was our last chance to prep! Also, please help us name our first bee family (like our worms - Gerards). They are Italian bees from the Williamsburg area who will live in the hive that will supply our "Broken Chair Honey" to honor Adam, who was a fellow science and sci-fi nerd...write ins are welcome.

1. Dolce (Italian for sweet)

2. O-bee-wan Keno-bee

3. Sting

4. Bina (Swedish for bees)

5. Not a Cylon

6. Seven of Nine

7. Washburne

8. Bee-nito Mussolini

Yesterday, I put a few drops of Lemongrass essential oil in our hive (which mimics the natural bee pheromone that says, yes this is home) and wouldn't you know it, there have been a lot of bees exploring our homestead today. I think the bee I saw on the daffodil is a Carolinian bee (of German heritage). More flowers added to encourage any bees to hang out here!

We planted 3 varieties of strawberries and were thrilled to see more plants/trees budding and blooming! Each plant gets some WilderWorm Vermicompost to give it a great start. Need some for your spring garden? First bag is on us!
